Do you have toothbrush issues? Do you know how to pick a good toothbrush? Do you find yourself standing in front of the dental aisle at your grocery store, trying to find a toothbrush that is right for you? How do you know what is the right toothbrush for you? If you are having toothbrush anxiety, we can help. Keep reading below for some helpful suggestions. Types of ToothbrushesIf you like manual toothbrushes, be sure that you pick a brush with soft bristles. While many people think hard bristles are the way to go, because they clean your teeth well, in reality, they also scrape enamel off your teeth- and no one wants that. Your tooth enamel is your teeth's armor, and we want to keep as much of that in your mouth as possible. You also want to select a manual toothbrush with a head that fits in your mouth comfortably. If the head is too large, you will not be able to brush your teeth correctly and reach all of your teeth and gumline in the back of your mouth, where bacteria love to hide. Change your manual toothbrush out every 3 to 4 months to limit the amount of bacteria in your mouth. If you like electric toothbrushes, there are lots of options to choose from. Electric toothbrushes can be as cheap as $5 for a battery-powered model to over $200 for a chargeable one. Pick a toothbrush that has a timer so you can set your tooth brushing for 2 minutes. Also, as with the manual toothbrush, be sure that you have a soft head for the toothbrush so you don't damage your teeth or gums. Change the head of the brush every three to four months. Still not sure what kind of toothbrush is right for you? Let us help! Why not give us a call today? We would love to make you an appointment so we can help you select the toothbrush that's right for you! |
